Live Performances @ containR

A suitcase full of countries

Saturday February 27, 8:00 pm &  8:45 pm

Performed by Kathryn Ricketts

Dance/theatre, live music and digital imagery fold into the poetic images Ricketts creates with her character LUG.  An overcoat that pulls 30 suitcases on its trail, defines the path of the single visitor among many. The arrival involves shedding the weight of this journey only to reveal the secrets within one solitary suitcase. This performance is the story of one among many.

Kathryn Ricketts brings over thirty years of dance/theatre performance to this rich interdisciplinary event. Ricketts is finishing her PhD with research focus on poetic narratives of displacement. Her work in dance/theatre has been performed locally, nationally and internationally.

No Hitting is a Vancouver based performance collective of sound and movement artists. As a group of professionals passionate about improvisation as a performance possibility No Hitting actively seeks to blur the line between performance and practice. Movement and sound come together in the space as equal partners in a game of chance, risk taking, and listening. Their  performances are fueled with the same high level of inquiry and discovery found in the rehearsal studio.

Inaugurated in the spring of 2009 under the drection of Laura Hicks and Jennifer Clarke, No Hitting has already performed in venues throughout Vancouver. Membership includes some of Vancouver’s most intriguing performers and familiar faces from the artistic community.
